Coping

Story one - 2017

Summed up in the title ‘Coping’, which in psychology means 'to invest your own conscious effort, to solve personal and interpersonal problems, in order to try to master, minimize or tolerate stress'. To me it's an innate dialogue with oneself, concealed and a subtle mechanism. There is no celestial magic involved, the healing is in the presence or the process itself. At some point we and our individual coping techniques together intersect as 'We' human, simply human.

In 1940’s, the German Freudian psychoanalyst, Karen Horney, developed a healthy strategy for coping that she termed Moving With’  with which psychologically healthy people use to develop relationships. In order to move with anxiety, there must be communication, agreement, disagreement, compromise, and decisions. Each image unwind layers of  emotional metamorphosis. Here typical, and even obvious subjects coming from social topics and norms speak directly of their substance and raise new possibilities. They pose challenging and even disturbing questions. Composing corporeal matters in ambiguous surroundings, as an allegory to human psyche and dilemma, they evokes solace in an unsettling form.
